The Shama District Education Directorate has ordered the closure of Assorko Junior High School (ASSESCO) following a violent attack by community youth on school staff.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, coinciding with the first day of the new academic term.
Teachers withdrew their services immediately, citing safety concerns after being assaulted over alleged poor academic performance of students.
The headmistress’s office was forcibly locked by the youth, escalating tensions.
Students expressed confusion and disappointment over the disruption, while some teachers admitted they are uncertain when they will return.
