The Minister for Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah has revealed that the Ministry still owes the Black Stars and the Black Meteors bonuses.

Isaac Asiamah disclosed this at the Meet the Press meeting on Wednesday 4 December, 2019 at the Ministry of Information conference room in Accra.

According to him, the Sports Ministry is unable to pay the outstanding bonuses because it is yet to receive its quarterly budget from the Finance Ministry leading to the delay in payment of the bonuses.

The bonuses to be paid are from the Black Stars 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and the Black Meteors participation at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

“But as at now our fourth quarter has not hit our accounts so we are waiting for it and then we will pay them. As it stands we owe the Black Stars two bonuses for their match against South Africa and Sao Tome”, he said at the meeting.

He further said despite the outstanding bonuses to be paid, the per diems of the players have already been paid.
