Founder of Play With Stephen, Stephen Onaivi, along with nine other bold cyclists, arrived at La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Friday, August 22, in commemoration of the upcoming Play With Stephen Charity Golf Tournament, which supports people with autism.

The arrival, which marked the official kickoff of this year’s edition of Play With Stephen thrilled many patrons who were deeply moved by the cyclists’ journey of commitment and perseverance, as they expressed their dedication to supporting people with autism.

The Convener of the Tournament shared his excitement with all cyclists and patrons, who evidently showed interest in going the extra mile for people with autism while enjoying the event. “We recognize the tenacity and strength it takes to complete a journey that involves endurance, similar to the experiences of people with autism and their families and caregivers. This weekend, we invite everyone to continue supporting autism initiatives, and we assure you a weekend filled with exciting activities, networking, and golf to raise awareness,” he said as he announced the tournament’s kickoff.

The General Manager of La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel commended all cyclists and active participants of the cause, which aims to raise vital funds for autism centers in Ghana and Lagos. He expressed his elation over the hotel’s participation in this year’s tournament, noting that it aligns with La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel’s core values of promoting inclusivity and advancing the welfare of all individuals. “We wholeheartedly applaud their selfless dedication to this noble cause and are proud to be part of their efforts. We recognize Ghana’s significant progress in embracing and empowering people with autism, and we are honored to contribute to this worthy cause. Once again, Akwaaba and well done,” he stated.

Day one of the tournament, on August 23, 2024, will kick off with a Twilight Golf (2-Hole Tournament) and Welcome Party. This event is a mix of a golf game, a welcome party experience, and a club night at the Achimota Clubhouse—a night to connect and a night to remember. This event is traditionally sponsored by Heineken and is themed “Heineken Night Twilight Golf and Welcome Party.”

Day two, on August 24, 2024, will feature a Club Day, where players are encouraged to participate in the club’s Monthly Medal. Players are urged to join the Monthly Medal to win prizes and to use this day as an opportunity to ‘test’ the course in preparation for the main tournament.

Sunday, August 25, 2024, will culminate the three-day event with the main tournament: an 18-hole stroke play that concludes with a Whisky Time, auction, and trophy presentation, all accompanied by entertainment.
