Ghanaian defender, Tariq Lamptey, has donated sets of jerseys and other equipment to the Asamankese community, a district in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The event dubbed, “Assist.Uplift.Impact” was held at the Asamankese Methodist School park and brought together the entire community as they were excited to see the Black Stars player.

The first part of the activities for the event commenced with an entertaining ceremonial game between two Division Three league teams in the community, Young Kotoko and Nana Kodie FC.

Young Kotoko emerged victorious with a slim 1-0 courtesy of a superb strike from their skipper, Atsu Prince who was eventually adjudged the best player of the match.

He received a pair of signed boots and a Brighton jersey from Tariq Lamptey.

Tariq Lamptey, together with his foundation also presented Brighton & Hove Albion shirts to both teams in the community, Young Kotoko and Nana Kodie FC.

Interacting with the community and the media after the donation, Tariq Lamptey expressed his joy at the standard of play from both teams and thanked the community for having him.

“I am very happy, the standard of play here was very good. Thank you for having me and also for the opportunity of coming today. I was impressed with some great talents exhibited here today. Hopefully, this will be the first of many”.

The Brighton and Hove Albion player also acknowledged that young talents in such communities need to be identified and nurtured to improve grass root football in Ghana.

Lamptey had previously represented England at junior levels before deciding to play for Ghana late last year.

As part of the charity work the Brighton defender will host teams and take some players through coaching clinics and some basic football training
