The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting that the 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHSs) has been fully reverted to the single-track system.

In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Public Relations Officer of GES, the Service stressed that the information was misleading and clarified that the new calendar makes provisions for both single-track and double-track schools.

“The 2025/2026 academic calendar has not fully reverted to the single-track system, as reported in some sections of the media,” the statement emphasized, adding that the Service remains committed to transparent and honest communication with the public.

According to the official calendar released last week, the academic year begins on Saturday, 18th October 2025, when all first-year students are expected to report to school. It will end on 21st August 2026 for single-track schools and 4th September 2026 for double-track schools.

The clarification, GES noted, was necessary to avoid confusion among students, parents, and stakeholders ahead of the start of the new academic year.
