Things to note before getting into a long-distance relationship

A lot of times, we see people get into long distance relationships only to end up separating after a period of time probably because they could not handle the stress of not being close to their partner, time difference, among many other problems.

Actress, Female activist and fourth runner-up in the 2020 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, Talata, has shared a few pointers and things that one has to look out for before getting into a long distance relationship.

Interviewed on eTV Ghana’s Girl Vibes with host, Mercy Bee the Ekumfi Princess, she said, “Should you meet someone who is abroad and want to start something with the person, ask yourself if you can handle it. This is someone you have to be checking up on all the time like a child. This is someone you have to trust whether you like it or not.

Even though you never really know what they person is up to, you have to give yourself the benefit of the doubt. You should ask yourself ‘Can I be transparent?’ Relationship does not always center on love. There’s trust, there’s transparency, there’s time, effort and a whole lot. Ask yourself if you can do all these things and ask yourself if you can be faithful”.

Talata continued that before getting into a long distance relationship, one must analyze him or herself and evaluate whether or not he or she is emotionally fit and is willing to forsake any relationships that may be inappropriate. “Some people say you can get to know two or three guys while in a relationship and even if that is what you want to do, you have to be sure that you don’t commit by getting sexually intimate with either of them”, she added.

The beauty queen noted that women should ask themselves if the man in question is whom they really want, if they are willing to be there for him at all times, and among all things, if they can pray for him, before kick-starting the relationship so that they don’t end up saying they have wasted their time and effort.
