On this day 24 June 1958 (Exactly 61 years ago) Edson Arantes do Nacscimiento “Pele” became and still the youngest player to score a hat-trick in the history of the FIFA World Cup playing for Brazil against France in the 6th FIFA World Cup Semi-Finals match played at the Resunda Stadium in Solna (17 years 244 days)

Brazil was leading 2–1 at halftime, and then Pelé scored a hat-trick, becoming the youngest in World Cup history to do so.

On this day 24 June 2010 (Exactly 9 years ago) In the longest match in tennis history, American John Isner defeated Nicolas Mahut of France at Wimbledon after 11 hours, 5 minutes of play over 3 days

It was a first round Men’s Singles match, in which the American 23rd seed John Isner played French qualifier Nicolas Mahut. The match began at 6:13 pm (British Summer Time, or 17:13 UTC) on Tuesday, 22 June 2010 on Court 18 at Wimbledon. At 9:07 pm, due to fading light, play was suspended before the start of the fifth set. After resuming on Wednesday, 23 June, at 2:05 pm, the record for longest match was broken at 5:45 pm. The light faded again, and so play was suspended at 9:09 pm, with the final set tied at 59 games all. Play resumed at 3:40 pm on Thursday, 24 June, and Isner won at 4:47 pm, the final set having lasted 8 hours, 11 minutes.

In total, the match took 11 hours, 5 minutes of play over three days, with a final score of 6–4, 3–6, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(7–3), 70–68 for a total of 183 games. It remains by far the longest match in tennis history, measured both by time and number of games. The final set alone was longer than the previous longest match.

Both players broke numerous Wimbledon and tennis records, including each serving over 100 aces, with the match being referred to as “the endless match

On this day 24 June 2017 (Exactly 2 years ago) Two players from the Jordan National Women’s Team participated in a football match at Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, breaking the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude football game ever played, seeking to promote equality and opportunity for women and girls.

Haneen Khateeb and Yasmin Shabsogh of the Jordan National Team joined 26 other female international players, competitive amateurs and graduates of sport to trek Mt. Kilimanjaro to play in the world record highest elevation regulation game at 18,799 ft., more than 2km higher than the world’s highest official stadium, complete with FIFA referees and an altitude specialist medical team.

The initiative, organized by Equal Playing Field (EPF) and entitled ‘Altitude Football Project’, aimed to advance equality and respect for girls and women seeking to play or work in sport everywhere, and to promote sports development for women especially in globally marginalized countries.

HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, commented: “The global conversation on equality would benefit greatly from initiatives as ambitious as this one, I salute the brave participants and wish them the best of luck in their quest.”

Prince Ali also added, “I’m also happy that two of our national team players are taking part in this initiative and are being an example to fellow players in our region on the power of football
