The Health Services Directorate of the University of Ghana has issued an urgent notice to members of the university community following a resurgence of COVID-19 cases. A few suspected and confirmed cases have been reported within the immediate vicinity, prompting renewed caution and heightened health measures.
The Directorate in a recent statement urged all staff, students, and visitors to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to recommended safety protocols to minimize infection and community spread. These include the proper wearing of face masks, particularly in enclosed or crowded spaces, frequent handwashing with soap or use of alcohol-based sanitizers, and maintaining at least one metre of physical distance wherever possible.
Large gatherings are to be avoided unless absolutely necessary, and all are encouraged to ensure good ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms. The Directorate also advised anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms to remain at home and promptly seek medical attention.
The University’s COVID-19 Response Protocols, including screening have been reactivated. Authorities have assured the community that the situation is being closely monitored and further updates will be provided as needed.
For any reports or further inquiries, members of the community are encouraged to contact the University Health Services via the provided telephone numbers or email address listed in the notice.
