A heated altercation unfolded between security personnel from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), resulting in a physical confrontation.

A video circulating on social media recorded the tense exchange at the Ghana Port Security and Immigration Service premises.

Reports suggest that approximately 12 GPHA security members at Meridian Port Services (MPS) reportedly entered the GIS office at MPS to detain two officers following a disagreement during routine vessel inspections on the MSC DYMPHNA.

It is reported that the GPHA security insisted on searching the officers upon completion of their inspection duties.

Despite an inspector’s clarification that they could search the bags of the officers, their request to search the individuals was denied due to the belief that a male officer should not search a female officer under any circumstance.

This refusal sparked a heated exchange of insults and physical harassment between the GPHA Security and the GIS officials.

The confrontation led to the tearing of the uniform worn by an officer identified as AICO II Boadu.
