The Electoral Commission of Ghana has issued a statement reaffirming the credibility of the 2024 Voters’ Register. On Wednesday, the Commission released a post on X emphasizing the register’s integrity and reliability, and assuring the public of its readiness for the forthcoming 2024 Elections.

This statement comes in response to allegations by the National Democratic Congress, the main opposition party, which claims that the register contains discrepancies requiring correction before the elections. The Electoral Commission’s assurance aims to address these concerns and maintain public confidence in the electoral process.

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to take its responsibilities seriously and ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Addressing a gathering at Adjen Kotoku in the Amasaman constituency on Wednesday, as part of his Greater Accra regional campaign, Mahama stressed the need for immediate action from the EC to address concerns and prevent any potential compromise of the electoral process. He emphasized the importance of a credible and transparent process, and called on the EC to take proactive steps to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming elections.

In response to concerns raised, the Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a statement affirming that “The 2024 Voters Register is indeed robust and credible, and we urge the public to disregard any claims suggesting that it is not fit for purpose for the upcoming 2024 Elections.”
