The Welfare Officer of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Benjamin Yeboah has expressed confidence in Finance Minister-Designate, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, affirming his ability to deliver and address the needs of traders when approved as Finance Minister.

In an exclusive interview with Bismark Brown on Happy 98.9 FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show, Mr. Yeboah highlighted that Ato Forson is not new to GUTA, as they collaborated with him during his tenure as Deputy Finance Minister. He praised Ato Forson’s track record, noting his commitment to the welfare of traders and expressing joy over his nomination.

Mr. Yeboah emphasized that Ato Forson understands the challenges traders face, particularly regarding taxation. He recalled that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership, prior to the elections, engaged with GUTA to discuss their concerns. With Ato Forson’s appointment, he is confident these issues will be addressed effectively.

He commended Ato Forson for his poise and depth of knowledge during his vetting, particularly his proposals to abolish the E-levy and betting tax, which he described as proof of his readiness to lead.

Mr. Yeboah urged Dr. Ato Forson to prioritize the welfare of traders, particularly by addressing the VAT regime to reduce the tax burden on them.
