Paapa Tanoa has disclosed that an injury he sustained 20 years ago in a friendly game whilst playing for the Black Stars has affected him immensely.

The former Okwahu United footballer now turned coach said he got injured on his hip in that friendly game.
Paapa Tanoa in an interview on Happy Sports revealed how he sustained the injury, “We went for a training tour in Russia and I sustained an injury in my Hip bow joint. The injury has really affected me.

“We went to represent the Black Stars in a friendly against Kazakhstan in 1988 and I got injured. I have carried that injury till now. My left leg is problematic now. I didn’t even know until we went for the Olympics when the doctor detected that the way I was running wasn’t appropriate. So I went for a scan and it was detected”.

“I was taking some drugs to cure the pain not knowing I was injuring myself. I am unable to walk but my left leg has shrunk. I am afraid to go for surgery because it may get worse. It’s almost 20 years and I don’t have any financial support as well”

“I have sought for help from the GFA but to no avail. I just have to forget about the operation because I don’t have the money”, he added.

Paapa Tanoa who currently holds a CAF License C is appealing for support to get a License A coaching certificate.
“I want to do the License A and I need help. For now, I have License C and want to move directly to License A. If CK and co are doing the License A then I can also do it”

Paapa Tanoa believes he may have suffered this injury due to black magic popularly known as ‘juju’.
He played for Ghanaian football clubs such as Great Olympics, Hasaacas, Okwahu, Hearts of Oak.
