Wilmar Africa Wins Standard Chartered Trophy 2019

Wilmar Africa has emerged winners of the Standard Chartered Trophy 2019 – Ghana Tournament. They beat strong contenders Team Voltic in the final. The one-day football tournament brought together twenty client teams of Standard Chartered playing in a 5 aside tournament that will see the winners participating in the Standard Chartered Trophy Final in Anfield. As champions, Team Wilmar Africa will receive an all expense paid trip to Anfiled home of Liverpool FC and play in the SC Trophy 2019 Final and also will receive a professional training session with LFC legends and coaches to help them prepare for the Final tournament.

Speaking at the tournament, Mansa Mettey, CEO, Standard Chartered Ghana Limited  said, “The partnership between Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC has generated great excitement around our brand and provided outstanding opportunites for our clients in Ghana and all markets. We are a brand that is passionate about what resonates with our clients and have leveraged on our sponsorship with Liverpool to make the dreams of many Ghananian football fans come true with the SC Trophy Tournament.”

Mr. Dan Benah, Head HR, Wilmar Africa, said, “The team is honoured to be taking part in the SC Trophy 2019 Tournament. We look forward to representing Ghana at the final at Anfield and are expecting to bring the trophy home.”

Phil Babb, Liverpool Legend joined the tournament, hosted a soccer clinic for children, engaged clients and provided tips to the finalists. Speaking at the tournament, Phil commented, “It is an honour to play at Anfield the home ground of LFC. The skill and talent I have seen here today goes to show how exciting the final at Anfield will be. I am looking forward to working with the team and wish them all the best.”

The Standard Chartered Trophy 2019 Tournament is an international 5-aside football tournament that provides local markets with a platform to actively engage clients, staff and stakeholders. It is hinged on the the Bank’s sponsorship of  Liverpool FC. Winners of competitions in the various markets receive an all expenses paid trip to Anfied, the Home of Liverpool FC to join other winners to play in a Finals tournament in May to determine The Standard Chartered Trophy Winner in a particular year. The team will watch the last Liverpool FC home match of the 2018/2019 season against Wolves.

Standard Chartered has been the main sponsors of Liverpool Football Club in the English Premier League since 2010.
