Women in rural communities within the Dormaa East District are grappling with serious health and financial challenges that are threatening their well-being and livelihoods.
As the world marked World Rural Women’s Day, many of these women voiced their frustration and desperation, calling for urgent intervention from government and development partners to improve their living conditions.
They lamented that declining physical strength and poor health are hindering their productivity, while the rising cost of living continues to erode their already limited incomes.
According to them, the situation has placed an immense burden on their families and communities, leaving many unable to meet basic needs such as food, healthcare, and education for their children.
“We are struggling to survive. Our energy is fading, and we can no longer work as we used to. Life is becoming very difficult,” one woman shared.
The women are appealing to the government to provide targeted support such as healthcare access, livelihood empowerment programs, and financial assistance to help alleviate their hardships.
They believe that sustained intervention and empowerment initiatives would not only improve their quality of life but also enhance their contribution to local economic development.
