The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has called on party delegates to prioritize electability over personal or family ties as the party prepares for its upcoming presidential primaries.
With the NPP set to elect a flagbearer in two weeks to lead the party into the 2028 general elections, Chairman Wontumi stressed that the decision should be guided by who can best return the party to power.
He made the remarks during a campaign tour of the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Saturday, January 17 .
According to Chairman Wontumi, Dr. Bawumia remains the strongest candidate among the aspirants and is best positioned to secure victory for the party in 2028.
He urged delegates to focus on the ultimate goal of winning power, rather than allowing personal relationships to influence their choices.
“If power is what we want, then our decision should not be based on who we know or are related to, but on who can lead us to victory in the 2028 elections,” he stated.
