As part of renewed efforts to tackle Ghana’s housing deficit and modernize the real estate sector, the Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has officially inaugurated Boards of Directors for three major institutions under the Ministry.

The newly constituted boards include:

1. State Housing Company Limited (SHCL)

2. Public Servants’ Housing Loans Scheme Board

3. Real Estate Agency Council

These institutions are expected to play a central role in driving reforms, improving housing access, and strengthening regulation within Ghana’s real estate and housing sector.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Adjei underscored the critical responsibility the new boards have in reshaping the housing landscape. He urged members to champion innovative financing models, leverage public-private partnerships, and promote sustainable, climate-resilient housing solutions.

“Ghana’s housing deficit currently exceeds 1.8 million units. Addressing this crisis requires forward-thinking leadership, coordinated strategies, and a firm commitment to inclusivity and affordability,” the Minister said.

He further emphasized the need to support public servants through improved home financing schemes, while also strengthening oversight and accountability in the growing real estate sector.

The newly sworn-in boards are expected to commence immediate work toward strategic planning, policy implementation, and stakeholder collaboration to help reduce the housing gap and drive sector transformation.
