Y102.5FM (Kumasi), the number one English broadcasting radio station, has launched its 10th anniversary celebrations. The on-air launch, which took place on October 8, 2024, on the Myd Morning Radio Show (MMRS), featured staff members sharing their individual and collective journeys with YFM Kumasi.

The 10-year celebrations is under the theme ‘’A decade of Leading the Youth and Urban Culture in the Ashanti Region; Reshaping the Future.’’

Timothy Karikari, PhD, Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Broadcasting, recounted the station’s history. “Ten years ago, Global Media Alliance Group (GMA) made a bold move to re-strategize Anigye FM, a local Twi-speaking station in Kumasi, transforming it into YFM – an English-language, youth-oriented, and urban-focused radio station. Fast forward, YFM Kumasi has revolutionized youth and urban culture in Kumasi, setting the standard for others to follow. Despite many stations attempting to adjust their strategies to keep up with our dominance across on-air, events, and digital platforms, YFM remains the pioneering force and the best in the market, continuing to lead the way in innovation and excellence,” he said.

Dr. Karikari looks forward to a future where YFM will continue to innovate and set trends. “For the next decade, YFM Kumasi is poised to reshape culture and lead the future. To our loyal listeners, valued clients, and all stakeholders, we promise nothing but the BEST – uncompromising excellence, innovative content, and unforgettable experiences that exceed expectations and set new standards.”

Nathaniel Osei Kuffour (Mahoney), General Manager of YFM Kumasi, congratulated his team for their continuous contributions to the brand. “I am pleased to acknowledge that we have achieved significant milestones over the past decade, and I extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you.”
He also called on YFM listeners and clients to stay with the brand. “I also extend a special thank you to our valued clients and loyal audience. Without you, there would be no YFM, and I’m grateful for your continued support.”

To mark the 10-year milestone, YFM Kumasi has an exciting lineup of activities for the anniversary celebrations! ’10 at 10′ party on October 12th at the Octopus Lounge from 10pm, featuring ten of Ghana’s biggest DJs for an unforgettable night of music and entertainment. The grand finale will take place on November 2nd in Kumasi, and it’s going to be the biggest one yet.

Other activities lined up to mark this significant milestone include: Area Codes, Ghana Career and Migration Fair, Football matches with clients Pre-tertiary fair among others.

YFM Kumasi is part of the Y Triangle, alongside YFM Accra and YFM Takoradi, all of which are broadcasting brands of Global Media Alliance. The Y Triangle is a niche radio brand dedicated to youth, urban, and English broadcasting.
