Prominent Ghanaian Blogger and Influencer, Kobby Kyei has charged Ghanaian youth to be impactful to society in their quest for success rather than chase sensationalism and social media trends.

Speaking at the inaugural edition of the Start Right Youth Seminar, organized by YFM Ghana in collaboration with MYO Global themed, “Investment Opportunities for the Youth: Success Stories, Potentials, and Risks,” Kobby Kyei stressed the significance of journalism to society.

He reminisced about his formative years when he witnessed journalists overcoming numerous hurdles to bring the news to the public. He firmly believed in the power of the media to shape people’s mindsets and recognized the potential consequences of consuming information without discernment.

“I noticed how important journalists were growing up, and the content on TV was very productive. I’ve always believed that the media is very powerful and has the power to change the mindset of the people. So anything that we watch and hear has the tendency of destroying the mindset,” he said.

Drawing from his own experiences of watching GTV and other media channels, Kobby Kyei lauded the dedication of journalists who went beyond the surface to uncover untold stories and share the realities of people’s lives. He expressed his appreciation for their efforts in venturing into remote and challenging areas to report on vital issues affecting communities which inspired him to venture into blogging.

However, Kyei also raised concerns about the current state of the Ghanaian media landscape, noting, “Currently in the Ghanaian media landscape, it’s all just about sensationalism and trends, while people lack the basic amenities in remote areas that need to be told.” He expressed dismay at the shift towards superficial and sensational content, which often overshadows the pressing concerns faced by marginalized communities in remote regions.

As a panelist at the seminar, Kobby Kyei urged the young generation to be conscious of the information they consume and share. He called on them to embrace responsible and impactful storytelling, using the power of social media and digital platforms for positive change.

The Start Right Youth Seminar continued with engaging discussions on various investment opportunities, success stories, potentials, and risks. Participants actively exchanged ideas, seeking to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their future ventures.
