The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has accused retired Commissioner of Police, Nathan Kofi Boakye of secretly training vigilantes.

According to Chairman Wontumi, COP Kofi Boakye lobbied for the position of Inspector General of Police and because he was denied, he has now ganged up with the opposition National Democratic Congress against the NPP.

Chairman Wontumi claimed that COP Kofi Boakye who previously served as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander is training mercenaries to perpetuate violence and he is going to deal with him.

“Kofi Boakye, if there is any disturbance here, we will hold you responsible. This place belongs to us. You were lobbying for the IGP position in an NPP government, and today you are the one training NDC mercenaries to perpetrate violence.”

“I am going to deal with you. I am stronger than you, I will deal with you, Kofi Boakye. If you meet Kofi Boakye anywhere, arrest him and bring him to me on citizen’s arrest.”

“I will hand him over to the police… We have a lot of things we can do, but we won’t do them. However, if he goes little, we will go bigger. This is a strong warning,” he said on Wontumi radio.

Chairman Wontumi’s rant about COP Kofi Boakye comes on the back of the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest held by the NDC nationwide on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
