Ex Black Stars defender, John Eshun’s name has popped up in a scandalous report by his wife who is accusing him of incest.
According to Madam Bernice Eshun, wife of the former Sekondi Eleven Wise rear-guard, he had multiple sex escapades with their daughter and also inserted his fingers in the private part of their grand-daughter for years.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Nsem Pii show hosted by Nyansa Boakwa, Madam Bernice revealed that all these happened at her blind side for decades before her daughter finally confessed to her.
Looking traumatized, Madam Bernice narrated how John Eshun, who was imgregnable in his playing days, impregnated their daughter twice when she was only 13.
“I was living with my husband at Kojokrom and we gave birth to our first daughter in 1969. In 1982, our daughter became pregnant when she was only 13. My husband, John Eshun blamed me for not being able to take good care of her. The pregnancy was aborted because we wanted her to continue with her education. We then moved to Sekondi where after six months, our daughter got pregnant again. My husband told me that it may be one of the boys at Sekondi College who is responsible for the pregnancy. That one was also aborted. On both occasions, our daughter never revealed who was responsible. Some years passed and our daughter disappeared from the house. We searched for her everywhere we could but we couldn’t find her. She later returned home pregnant. She told me she went to Mali. As a mother, I took her back and catered for her until she gave birth to a baby girl.” Madam Bernice intimated as she narrated her ordeal to Happy FM.
She further disclosed that one day, she happened to chance upon her daughter, her grand-daughter and another niece of hers speaking under-tone and as they saw her, they dispersed. She then realized that something was amiss hence she approached her daughter who confessed.
“We later moved to Accra and one day I chanced upon my daughter, my grand-daughter and another little niece of mine talking under-tone and they dispersed immediately they saw me. I became skeptical so I confronted my daughter and she told me that my husband, who was her father, has been having affairs with her but he threatened her that if she told anyone, she would die. She also revealed to me that my husband had been fingering our grand-daughter and our small niece too. Our daughter further revealed that he was responsible for all her pregnancies. I mustered courage and asked but after initially denying, he later accepted it and said it was the devil that caused it. It has haunted me for too long.”
Madam Bernice said she felt everything was crumbling under her feet and needed help since this was too much for her to take.
Born in Sekondi, John Eshun began playing club football for local sides Sekondi Eleven Wise F.C. and Sekondi Hasaacas F.C..
Eshun represented Ghana at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. He also made several appearances for the senior Ghana national football team, including two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, and he played at the 1968 and 1970 African Cup of Nations finals.
After Eshun retired from playing football, he became a coach. He has managed Sekondi Hasaacas, Tema Youth and Ebusua Dwarfs among others.
