Two people have died and 13 others sustained injuries following a fatal head-on collision on the Anyinam–Enyiresi stretch of the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
In a statement released on Friday, December 5, the GNFS said the Anyinam Fire Station received a distress call at 9:21 a.m. and promptly dispatched a six-member rescue team led by LFM Awuku Samuel. The crew arrived at the scene at 9:36 a.m.
According to the Service, the crash involved a Toyota Hiace minibus with registration number AS-4191-25 and a Honda Pilot AS-8086-14. Both vehicles were found in the middle of the road after the impact.
The driver of the Honda Pilot and a female passenger were trapped in the mangled vehicle.
Firefighters extricated them and transported them to the Enyiresi Government Hospital, but both were pronounced dead on arrival.
Thirteen other victims, 12 males and one female had earlier been rushed to the same facility by bystanders.
Eyewitness accounts suggest the accident occurred when the Toyota Hiace, travelling from Nkawkaw toward Accra, attempted a wrongful overtaking, lost control, and veered into the opposite lane, resulting in the collision.
GNFS rescue team later cleared the wreckage and ensured the free flow of traffic. They returned to their base at 11:05 a.m.
