Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Professor Amin Alhassan has denied claims of receiving $3 million from the Ministry of Sports as payment for their coverage of the 2024 African Games.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapaha Ussif earlier told the Public Accounts Committee that over $3 million was paid to GBC as payment for their coverage of the 13th African Games hosted in Accra and Cape Coast.

“GBC was the official broadcaster for the 13th African Games and I can confirmed to this committee that full payments have been made top them Mr. Chairman. Mr Chairman, I can’t recollect the exact amount we paid but I know that what we paid to GBC for the coverage is in excess of $3 million”.

However, Professor Amin Alhassan in an interview with Unique FM said they have only received $105,000 and not the $3 million the Minister told the Public Accounts Committee sitting.

“I want to state that GBC’s total benefit from the African Games was $105,000. Nothing more was paid to GBC. GBC was invited to the table barely one month before the Games.”
