Ghana’s Women’s U20 national team, the Black Princesses, eased past eSwatini away from home in the first leg of their third round 2024 U20 World Cup qualifier.

Yusif Basig’s team rallied from a goal down to secure a 6-1 victory at the Somhlolo National Stadium in eSwatini on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts took an early lead in the fifth minute, but Mercy Attobra leveled for the Black Princesses in the 10th minute. Beline Nyarkoh then scored in the 28th minute, giving the Ghanaians the lead at halftime.

The Black Princesses extended their lead to two goals four minutes into the second half with Wasima Mohammed’s strike. Sarah Nyarko made it 4-1 for Ghana just before the hour mark.

eSwatini contributed an own goal, making it five for Ghana, before Mercy Attobra secured her brace in the 86th minute, concluding the game at 6-1.

The second leg is scheduled at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 19, with the Black Princesses holding a significant advantage after the first-leg triumph.
