Arsene Wenger hails Edinson Cavani's performance following Arsenal's draw with Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger praised Edinson Cavani following his side’s 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain.
Alexis Sanchez struck a late leveller at the Parc des Princes as the Gunners kicked off their Champions League campaign.
Cavani opened the scoring inside the first minute for the hosts before wasting a string of opportunities to extend his side’s lead.
Sanchez eventually made the Uruguayan pay but the Arsenal boss was still impressed with his performance.
“I think Cavani was good tonight if I’m honest. I think he was very effective in terms of his pressing,” Wenger said.
Cavani led the line for the French champions as they continue to struggle in front of goal without former talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Nevertheless, boss Unai Emery refused to blame Cavani’s wastefulness for the two dropped points.
He said: “It’s all about having the confidence to score goals. He’d scored a great goal at the start.
“He had three good chances, three very good chances. He wasn’t the best but I said that the first thing is creating the chances.
“I’m not pleased with the result, but I’m pleased with the way we played. We’re on the right track.
“The team showed spirit. The players did well in terms of the football we were asking them to play.”
