Emmanuel Yeboah of the University of Cape Coast defied all odds to beat local favourite Desmond Aryee in a blistering 100m final race at the southern section of the GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Desmond Aryee, despite having won the Kumasi and Tamale editions of the competition, failed to replicate his form in his home region as Emmanuel Yeboah and Shadrack Opoku Agyemang, both from the University of Cape Coast, clocked 10.18s and 10.50s respectively to pin him to third place with a time of 10.53s in the seniors male category.
In the seniors female category, Sandra Konadu from the University of Ghana made mince-meat of her other competitors after clocking 12.12s in the final as Mariam Pomaa of the University of Cape Coast came second with a time of 12.30s while Elizabeth Tuffour from Kumasi Wesley Girls placed a distant third after clocking 14.38s.
