Ronaldo banned for shoving referee during El-clasico

CRISTIANO RONALDO has been banned for five matches for shoving the referee during Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Barcelona on Sunday.

The Portuguese star, 32, was handed a one-match suspension for his red card and a further four for pushing the match official following his second yellow card.

The news comes after Ronaldo endured an incredible two-minute passage of play at the Nou Camp.
Having superbly put Real 2-1 ahead following a clinical counter-attack, CR7 was booked for taking his shirt off while celebrating the screamer.
Ron was then felled in the box by Samuel Umtiti moments later, only to be booked again for diving.
In incredible scenes at the Nou Camp, the Portuguese forward pushed Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the back as he was storming off the pitch.
However, Ronaldo appears to have got off rather lightly, as he could have sat out 12 matches.
In Article 96 of the Spanish federation’s rule book it is stated that that a “grab, push or shake” on a referee in a manner that is “slightly violent” sees a player banned for four to 12 matches.
