A 19-year-old girl who was reportedly drunk was found dead inside a hotel’s walk-in freezer after she attended a party.
According to reports, the deceased identified as Kenneka Jenkins, had attended a party at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont, Chicago, USA on Friday, September 8 and was reported missing the next day.
Her corpse was found in the hotel’s cold freezer by a staff on Sunday, September 10, two days after she had reportedly wandered off from the party venue.
Reports claim she was last seen at the party, and a text message was sent from her phone around 1:30am on Saturday, while her friends called her family when she was nowhere to be found.
Late Kenneka’s mother, Teresa Martin, said she was told by the police that her daughter had entered the freezer by herself. However, she insisted that if she had been drunk as was assumed, Kenneka would have tried to open the freezer door.
She reportedly said: ”Those were double steel doors, she didn’t just pop them open.’
Speaking on the unfortunate incident, the hotel’s management released a statement saying: “The Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel and Conference Center holds the safety, security and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We are saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the young woman and her family during this difficult time. The hotel staff will continue to cooperate fully with local authorities. All further questions should be directed to the Rosemont Police Department.” So sad! RIP to her!
