Godwin Attram draws inspiration from Leicester City as Olympics book Premiership place

Head Coach of Accra Great Olympics, Godwin Attram says the club can emulate the success story of Leicester City after guiding them to the Premiership.

Prior the 2015/16 season, Leicester City were earmarked by the connoisseurs of the game as one of the three clubs to be relegated after a turbulent season before, but they defied all odds to win the league with two games to spare.

And after Great Olympics defeated Tudu Mighty Jets 1-2 in the penultimate round of the Division One league at the Military Academy Training Park to book their ticket to the Ghana Premier League (GPL), Godwin Attram, who started the season as a player with the ‘Dade Boys’ before taking the reins of the club as a player-cum-coach believes with the right mentality and preparation they could emulate what the English league champions did last season.

“It’s been my dream to lead this great club back to where they belong. We toiled with our sweat and blood to achieve this feat and I would like to thank management and our supporters for the guidance and prayers throughout the season,” says the former PSV Eindhoven attacker.

“Olympics are not in the Premier league just to add up to the numbers, but we’ll bee keen on duplicating what Leicester City did in England last season because I believe nothing is lofty when you are determined. However, our goal is to first play and stay in the league.”

“In some of the big games we played this season, I noticed that some of the boys were panicking, and this is one area I’d like to work on before the Premier league season commences.”

Great Olympics top the Zone 3 of the GN Division One League with 63 points from 29 matches, with one game to finish.
