Paa Kwesi Fabin Reveals Why He Wasn't Starting Fans Favourite Richard Danso

Black Starlets coach Samuel Fabin has disclosed reasons why he didn’t barge to pressure from Ghanaians to start Richard Danso in games during the U-17 FIFA World Cup in India.
Danso was deployed as a super-sub by coach Fabin during the biennial competition in India as he scored two goals from four games, including one screamer against the young Menas of Niger in the Round of 16 stage.
The performance of the WAFA Academy forward prompted many to call for his start in games following leading striker, Eric Ayiah’s failure to hit his stride in the tournament.
But coach Fabin has revealed that the 16-year-old’s health issues prevented him from starting games.
“When it comes to some things like health issues, it’s difficult to reveal it on air. But to let Ghanaians know what culminated in his role was that, during one of our training sessions in Dubai, he walked to me in the middle of the session and complained of his heart, so we decided to tread cautiously with his involvement in games. So any decision we took concerning him, we had to consult the team’s doctor first,” Fabin revealed on Happy FM.
“Because of those issues we decided to slowly integrate him into the side so that as we progress in the tournament he’ll be given much game time but things didn’t work out as planned.”
“In the game against Mali, we introduced him in the 50th minute but it was too late. So this is what really happened, we were treading cautiously with him on the advise of the medical team.”
