Namoale chickens out , as 15 more join NDC race

Former Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Amasah Namoale has backtracked on his ambition to lead the National Democratic Congress(NDC) come 2020 to support Joshua Alabi.
He has decided to withdraw his candidacy to support a former board Chairman of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust ( SSNIT) Professor Joshua Alabi.
Namoale disclosed that he will no longer join the race for the vacant NDC presidential slot but will now join the campaign team of the former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).
He believes his contention will create a lot of confusion in the party, the reason being that he will never keep quiet on the numerous issues springing up daily in the party.
He made this known on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’, Tuesday.
A peeved Namoale lamented that it appears every decision taken and programmes drawn by Executives of the party is geared towards championing a particular candidate for the 2020 race.
“I will keep my actual grievances for now for the betterment of our party,” he stated.
Ousted La Dadekotopon MP, Nii Amasah Namoale bragged that he would win the party’s Presidential nomination in 2020 – and he would beat any candidate that dares faces him, including John Mahama.
Namoale, a three term MP who was beaten in last year’s polls, said on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo‘ earlier this year that he is ready to lead the party in 2020 and nobody can stop him.
So far a number of high profile members of the NDC including Alban Bagbin, Prof. Joshua Alabi, former Rector of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), and former President John Mahama – have all given some hints of their interest in leading the NDC in the 2020 election.
Former Trade Minister, Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah, has also shown indications of joining the race.
But Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has also claimed on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ that he is privy to the fact that as many as fifteen persons are already preparing to file their papers and contest for the flagbearership slot when the party opens nomination.
These persons, he said always hide their intention while in public but are busily scheming to win support for their candidature.
The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, said the fifteen persons are all members of the NDC in good standing with some being persons who held positions in the former Mahama administration.
