Lakeside Marina Park (LMP) in collaboration with Happy FM on Tuesday January 23 launched this year’s edition of the annual 6 km Family Fun Run and Walk at the premises of Happy FM, Asylum Down. This makes it the 8th edition of this event since it’s inception in 2010.
According to organizers, this event is aimed at bringing together families, individuals and schools to promote a healthy lifestyle and celebrate Ghana’s 61st Independence Day through physical exercises.
This year’s event is set to take place on Monday, 6th March 2018 at the Lakeside Marina Park, Lakeside Estate.
Speaking at the Launch of the event, Mr. Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance Group said “the main aim behind the annual Family Fun Run is to provide a good opportunity for families, individuals and students to exercise and network.”
He added that due to the busy schedule of corporate officials in Ghana and the demand of family responsibilities, exercising becomes a challenging task. It is in this regard that Lakeside Marina and Happy FM provide that avenue through the Family Fun Run to keep fit and stay healthy.
Mr. Boateng urged families, individuals and schools to come and participate in their numbers and take advantage of the numerous benefits the event offers.
“We want to intensify awareness about the need for families to occasionally meet, exercise and engage in fun-filled activities in order to break the routine boredom of work. We therefore urge all families to pick up registration forms and participate in this worthy healthy event,” he said.
Commenting on the event, the Director of Lakeside Estate, Mr. Salah Kweku Kalmoni said “The Lakeside Marina/Happy FM Family Fun Run is a family event held annually on the Independence Day, to encourage healthy living among Ghanaians.”
“This collaboration with Happy FM over the years has been fruitful as the two companies share the same goals in promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This event has over the years brought families and friends together to keep fit and to network. We are very glad as a company to be championing such a noble cause. We promise a more exciting event come the 6th of March, 2018,” he disclosed.
He added that this year’s winners would receive prizes such as generators, printers, cameras and accessories among others.
This is the 8th in the series of the Lakeside Marina and Happy FM Family Fun Run and over 400 people are expected to participate this year. The 6 km and 10 km run will start at 6:00 am at the Lakeside Marina Park. Other side attractions awaiting all participants including free breakfast, medical screening and a special VIP breakfast.
