A deputy director of Communication of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has maintained that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has collapsed the operations of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to the extent that it cannot renew common identity cards for subscribers.
Kweku Boahen said under the NPP’s administration subscribers have to spend days in queues at NHIA offices across the country to renew simple cards.
He said under the then administration of the NDC subscribers were provided with their NHIA cards instantly.
Kwaku Boahen gave this description of the NPP’s mismanagement of the operations of the NHIA on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
This is how low the NPP has taken the operations of the NHIA to adding that NHIA  under the NDC with Sylvester Mensah as the Chief Executive Officer revolutionalized the operations of the authority.
He said when Mr. Mensah took over the operations of NHIA it had only three million subscribers and he moved its operations to eleven million subscribers as of the time the party was leaving power in 2016.
Under the NDC’s administration regional offices were acquired for the authority as well as the construction of an ultra-modern head office building in the plush Ridge area of Accra.
He maintained that all the NPP’s current managers are interested in increasing the premium to blow it on their lavish styles.
How do you expect workers who are alredy over burden by draconian taxes introduced by the NPP to contribute parts of their salaries for the sustenance of the scheme you have run down yourself?
