Week Two of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League offers the Phobians and their arch-rivals opportunities to pick up their first victories of the new campaign
Having failed to get three points on matchday one, Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have their job cut out in week two of the Premier League.
The heavyweights were held by newly-promoted Eleven Wise and 2016-17 runners-up Wafa on the road, and to prevent a rather early press of the panic button, the need for full points this weekend cannot be underemphasized.
Hearts will confront the challenge early on Saturday in one of only matches of the day. And it will be against 2014-15 champions Ashanti Gold, who claimed a 1-0 win over 2015-16 winners Wa All Stars on opening day. The game will come of at Hearts’ newly-adopted Cape Coast home ground.
Before Kotoko take their turn on Sunday by welcoming Inter Allies to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, All Stars would have faced Ebusua Dwarfs in Wa in Saturday’s other game.
In other matches, new boys Karela FC hope to claim their first ever point in the elite division when they lock horns with Eleven Wise at Anyinase.
Having had their matchday one game rescheduled due to Aduana Stars’ participation in the Caf Champions League, Liberty Professionals are set to take to the pitch for the first time this season when they host Wafa at Dansoman.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea are seeking to make amends for their poor start with full points when they square off against visitors Dreams.
In the last game, Bechem United will play at home to Medeama. The Hunters lost 3-0 to Allies in their opener while Medeama beat Karela 1-0.
Elmina Sharks’ meeting with Aduana Stars has been postponed.
