The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has slashed GH₵58,000 ($5,000) from the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) budget meant for fuelling the Black Stars’ team bus ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
Sports Minister Kofi Adams revealed the cut at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, as he detailed changes made to the team’s Match Day 7 budget. While key expenses such as charter flights and accommodation were maintained, several other items were either reduced or removed to keep spending in check.
The scrapped bus fuelling allocation was part of a wider review that saw the Black Stars’ proposed $1.2 million budget cut down to $841,290.
Ghana travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8. Both fixtures are crucial as the Black Stars chase qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
