Sixty-three NPP Members of Parliament have formally declared their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
At a press conference in Parliament, the MPs said their decision was based on Dr. Bawumia’s proven leadership, competence, and unifying vision to reposition the party for victory against the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on behalf of the group, the MP for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, announced that all 63 lawmakers voluntarily signed a declaration endorsing Dr. Bawumia as the most capable candidate to lead the NPP.
Those backing Dr. Bawumia include Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), Frank Asiedu Bekoe (Suhum), John Ntim Fordjour (Assin South), and Ekow Vincent Assafuah (Tafo), among others.
The MP for Trobu added that the NPP MPs for Dr. Bawumia movement reflects a shared belief that his leadership will not only unite the party but also accelerate national development.
