MMTL redirects buses to ease Accra transport crunch

MMTL redirects buses to ease Accra transport crunch Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) has reduced some of its intercity bus services to focus on intracity operations in Accra, aiming to ease transport challenges in the capital. This move involves scaling down long-distance routes, such as those to Kumasi and Cape Coast, to allocate more buses to high-demand intracity routes like Adenta, Kasoa, Amasaman, and Nsawam. The decision follows directives from the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to support private transport operators during peak hours. MMTL is currently operating with a limited fleet of 115 buses, down from over 1,000 when it started in 2004, but is working to maximize available resources. This initiative aims to boost MMT’s operations, improve service coverage, and reduce congestion pressures in major urban centers. “We are committed to improving transport services in Accra and ensuring that our buses are deployed where they are most needed,” said an MMTL spokesperson. The public is encouraged to take advantage of the enhanced intracity services, and MMTL apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the reduction in intercity services.

Dreams FC striker Joseph Esso is anticipating a hostile reception from his former side when both teams clash in matchday three of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The former Hearts of Oak striker joined the Still Believe club after leaving the Phobians in a controversial manner which was widely reported in the media.

Esso, who one of the key players for the Ghanaian giants was reported to have made huge demands over his contract extension which the club could not meet thus leading to his exit.

The former Ebusua Dwarfs striker made a shock move to Dreams FC after reported moves to Medeama and Asante Kotoko.

Speaking in an interview on Happy Sports with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy 98.9FM, Esso hoping to make an impact at the club, “I am happy to have joined Dreams FC. I have been training with the team and I can say I am ready for the season. After changing club, I am ready to help my colleagues so we can lift the team to a high pedestal.

“I am looking forward to the game against Hearts of Oak, as to whether I will celebrate when I score we will see on match day”, he added.

Dreams FC play away to Hearts of Oak on matchday three at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Dreams FC midfielder Emmanuel Ocran added that with the club’s acquisition of new players to beef up the squad will help in the team’s course ahead of the new season.

“Last season we lacked the ability to score even though we played very well. This season the management has signed five players to beef the attacking department, so with this provision made, everybody should watch out for Dreams FC.

On his personal target for the season, he said, “I hope to make an impact in every game I play”

Dreams FC begin their league campaign against Inter Allies away at the Accra Sports Stadium on 16 November.
