Election 2020: Special Voting underway [Photos]

The Special voting has commenced with about 109,557 expected to take part in the voting today, ahead of the general polls on 7 December 2020.

The early voting takes place at 311 centres across the country.

At a press conference at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra on Monday, Jean Mensa mentioned that officers recruited and trained by the commission stand in readiness to deliver a smooth and fairness, peaceful and orderly process during the elections.

“All materials necessary had been distributed in sufficient quantity and these include the covid materials, the Covid-19 protocols will be put in place and observed, the biometric verification has been prepared and deployed.”

The EC Chair called on all eligible voters to turn up as the commission expects a 100 per cent participation.

“As a commission we expect a near 100 per cent turn out and we are confident that the outcomes will be peaceful, credible, orderly, seamless and transparent God being our helper”.

She also mentioned that special voters list has been published on the Electoral Commission’s website for verification in addition to the alternative use of a shortcode *711*2020# on all mobile phones.

“We entreat all who applied to verify their details and locations on the commission’s website”.
