Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has revealed that some journalists in Ghana have been paid to promote the agenda of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) in Ghana.

According to him, the LGBT are powerful and wealthy people in the community hence they used their monies to influence people.

His anger stems from the opening of the office and fundraiser the group, LGBT Rights Ghana is reported to have held. The fundraiser was attended by both the Australian and United States ambassadors to Ghana.

Speaking interview on Happy Morning Show (HMS) with Samuel Eshun, Foh-Amoaning alleged that, “LGBT group in Ghana are very rich and they have paid some people in the media to carry their agenda. Some media personnel are practising it, Judges, lawyers and politicians are all involved but we will expose them at the right time.”

He also wants Ghanaians to debunk the assertion that LGBT is part of the country’s Human Rights Law.

“The Constitution’s chapter that deals with Fundamental Human Rights and freedom is pretty clear, it talks about discrimination against race, colour, sex, and religious matters,” he said.

“It never talks about the standard physiology which is normally used for LGBT rights, that is a sexual orientation, we don’t have it in our constitution, he explained further”

Mr Foh-Amoaning assured the coalition that based on the law, gay rights will be banned in the country.

“We will put the appropriate petitions before Parliament for the immediate passage of a comprehensive legislation and then we will prohibit their motion.”

Last year, Foh-Amoaning’s coalition passed a resolution to compel the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to stop issuing visas to members of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexual Association (ILGA) who have planned to organise a conference in Ghana.

The coalition has also appealed to the government to come out with a comprehensive policy backed by an Act of Parliament to discourage the association from operating in Ghana.

According to the coalition, the South African-registered group Pan Africa ILGA, had a number of activities lined up for its fifth regional conference slated for Accra from July 27 to 31, this year.

The proposed international conference is on the theme: “Sankofa: Looking back to our roots – Reclaiming our right”, which is contained in the group’s website.
