The 11th edition of the HappyFM/Lakeside Marina Family Fun Run, which takes place on the 6th of March annually is set to go virtual this year.
The 6km/10km run and walk which seeks to promote regular exercising and family bonding will not take place at its regular venue, the Lakeside Marina Park. But participants can now partake in the run simultaneously from all parts of the world.
Organizers of the run revealed that the innovation was deemed necessary because of the increasing positive cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and sought to do away with any and all form of social gatherings.
Addressing the innovation was the Event Director of the Run Ghana Club, Salah Kwaku Kalmoni who said, “In this current age of COVID-19, we have started taking events, meetings and all other in-person activities online and this is the new normal. When it comes to competitive sports event, we are the first organization to take our event digital, a feat that we are proud of”.
Before outlining the processes involved in registering for the virtual run, the Run Ghana Event Director disclosed that a portion of proceeds from the run will be donated to the Mercy Social Center and urged the public to register to support a worthy cause.
Follow the Steps to register for the run
Step 1. Fill the registration form via link.
Step 2: Download the Nike Run Club App and complete the sign up process.
Download may be from the app store or play store based on device.
Step 3. Locate Club from the App Menu
Step 4. Click on the +Contact icon to search for and add us.
Step 5. Click on the Search bar and search for Run Ghana
Step 5. Click on add/+ button to send us a friend request.
Steps Completed >> Wait up, we would confirm your request. After that, we will send you the Family Fun Run invite come Saturday, 6th March 2021.
