The Black Satellites of Ghana defeated Uganda to clinch the country’s fourth AFCON U-20 title at the Stade Olympique de Nouakchott in Mauritania on Saturday night.

Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Barnie Afriyie scored a brace in the game to help the Black Satellites ease past the East African side.

Uganda started the game dominating play but were unable to penetrate the Ghanaian defence marshalled by Ibrahim Danlad and Assinki.

The Black Satellites eased themselves into the game and took control with possession from the 10th minute.

Ghana’s first chance of the game came in the 12th minute as Daniel Afriyie hit the woodwork from a corner kick

The Hearts of Oak forward scored in the 21st minute from a corner kick as he flicked the ball past the Uganda goalkeeper.

The Black Satellites held onto the lead to go into the break leading the tie.

Daniel Barnie Afriyie scored his second goal of the game in the 51st minute to seal the win for the Black Satellites

Ghana now equals Egypt’s record of four AFCON U-20 title in the competition after Saturday’s win against Uganda.

The Satellites won the tournament in 1993, 1999, 2009 and now in 2021.
