The Worldreader Ghana’s “MPs DigiRead Train”, chalked another success after a successful maiden edition at the Odododiodioo constituency. This time, it was at the Okaikwei Central Constituency and with the Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, on Wednesday, 28 July, 2021 at the Global Evangelical Church auditorium.

As characterized with the last one, this edition also hosted the Member of Parliament in reading with students drawn from the constituency and was followed with a conversation on the theme of the book and its correlation with the lifestyle in the constituency. The selected book was “Kiddies International Band” published by Buck Press.

The session also created a platform for the children to interact with the Member of Parliament on issues regarding education, library infrastructure in the constituency, reading manners and last but not least, the relevance of reading and reading clubs in schools.

The entire event was brought to successful close after a session dubbed “Blast a balloon & Read accordingly!”—a segment that allowed students to burst a blown balloon, pick a sheet with a number and read that number of sentence(s) accordingly. For the acceptance and cooperation of the Member of Parliament for the success of this all-important literary event in the constituency, a citation was presented to him by Worldreader Ghana together with the students.

“The MPs DigiRead Train” is project by Worldreader Ghana dedicated to giving a reading experience from the digital perspective and also encouraging the use of digital devices such as phones and tablets for reading purposes. The product by Worldreader which was made available for the reading session was the BookSmart app, a store of several collections by authors/publishers in Ghana, Africa and the world at large.

Partners of the event include Ghana Reads Initiative, Graphic Showbiz, Agoo Tv, Kantanka Tv, Writersproject on Citi and the Insight Newspaper. The next edition would be at the 18th Ghana International Book Fair scheduled for the National Theatre of Ghana from 26th-29th August, 2021.
