Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold SC booked a place in the final of the MTN FA Cup following a convincing win in their respective semifinal matches.

AshantiGold SC eased past Berekum Chelsea with a 4-1 win at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first semifinal game.

The game traveled to extra time following a 1-1 result in regulation time.

Eric Esso scored a beautiful free-kick to put the miners in the lead before Stephen Sarfo got the equalizer in the second half for Berekum Chelsea.

AshantGold SC came back stronger in extra time to score three more goals to secure a place in the final.

Seth Osei, Amos Nkrumah, and Amos Addai were on the scoresheet for the miners in the second half of extra time as the game ended 4-1.

The second semifinal game between Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC saw the Phobians dominating the Mauve and Yellow to progress to the final.

Coach Samuel Boadu and his players eased past former Champions of the FA Cup with a 3-0 scoreline to win the game.

Benjamin Afutu scored the opening goal of the game for the Phobians in the first half through a header.

A howler from Medeama goalkeeper Frank Boateng gifted Hearts of Oak a second goal which was nicely tapped into the net by Isaac Mensah.

Hearts of Oak were awarded a penalty after Daniel Afriyie Barnie was brought down in the box by the goalkeeper.

Frank Boateng saved the spot kick but was ruled out after he was adjudged to have moved out of the line before the ball was kicked.

Barnie scored on the second attempt to give the Phobians a 3-0 lead.

Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold will battle it out for the trophy on Sunday 8 August, 2021 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
