Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi has warned that Ghana’s economic transformation efforts could be undermined without institutional integrity, ethical leadership, and sound corporate governance.
According to him, sustainable economic development required more than well-designed government policies and investment strategies, stressing that responsible leadership and strong institutional values were equally essential to building a resilient economy.
He made this known while delivering a keynote address on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, at the 5th Ghana CEO Vision and Awards Gala.
Hon. Brogya Genfi challenged CEOs to look beyond profitability and recognise their wider responsibilities to employees, shareholders, society, and the environment.
He noted that business leaders must see themselves not only as managers of enterprises but also as custodians of organisational culture, guardians of corporate reputation, and champions of environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
The Presidential Adviser cautioned that weak governance, poor risk management, and compromised ethical standards could threaten not only individual businesses but also undermine confidence in entire markets and economies.
He identified transparency, accountability, and integrity as essential requirements for sustainable growth, urging corporate leaders to build institutions capable of enduring beyond their individual tenures.
Hon. Brogya Genfi said the true measure of leadership should extend beyond quarterly earnings and annual financial reports to include the quality of institutions leaders build and the values they uphold.
He made the remarks while celebrating nominees and award recipients at the event, commending business leaders who had demonstrated resilience, invested in people, and embraced innovation despite economic uncertainties.
