Ashanti Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kyei Danso has described the just ended #FixTheCountry demonstration as a concert.

He argues protestors had nothing to say and do not even know what they want fixed in Ghana, making the protest irrelevant.

Attacking the emblem of the #FixTheCountry movement, he said, “the demonstration was a concert one. Protestors had nothing to say and don’t even know what they want us to fix. For crying out loud we don’t use a spanner as seen in their logo to fix a country. We use spanners to fix cars not a country,” he said.

According to him #FixTheCountry protestors must appreciate the growth and development of Ghana over the last 4 years, and argues no country can be fixed definitely.

Speaking to Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show, he stated, “They should know the height the country has risen to from the past. If we can fix the country, it would’ve been done a long time ago. Even the United States is still fixing their country. Past heads of states have come and gone but they couldn’t solve all Ghana’s problems. So how do protestors expect the NPP to do so in the last 4 years?”

Kwasi Kyei Danso notes that Ghana is working. He insists President Akufo-Addo has developed infrastructure, improved access to education and describes demonstrators as ungrateful.

The #FixTheCountry campaign started on microblogging site, Twitter as a number of youth bemoaned the high rates of unemployment and unfavourable conditions in the country.

The group which went on a demonstration on Wednesday, August 5, 2021, on the principal streets of Accra, says the protest is to put pressure on the government to address the country’s numerous challenges.

The group served notice of the demonstration to register its dissatisfaction with the current cost of living in the country.
