Former King Faisal and Ghana midfielder, Abubakari Yahuza, says the country boasted of a lot of quality players due to the competitiveness of the locals hence the reason why the Black Meteors team qualified for the Olympics.

According to him, there was enough talent in the domestic league compared to this current generation.

Yahuza who played in the Olympic qualification for the national team said the team at that time had a lot of quality and they were determined to also qualify.

“Those times we had a good team to compete at the Olympics and we were determined to also qualify. During that period the Ghana Premier League was very competitive”, he told Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy 98.9FM.

“When you are invited to the national team you have to work hard to even get selection. But now you don’t know the criteria used to select the players.

“There was a lot of unity in camp as well. The league was very competitive as well so there was always the quality of players around”, he added.
