A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s communication team, Michael Fordjour has said that former President Mahama and the NDC are only wasting Ghanaians’ time with their petition to the IGP.

He added that this is not surprising because the NDC did the same with its petition at the Supreme Court after the 2020 election.

He made these statements during a panel discussion on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Happy FM’s Don Prah.

“NDC shouldn’t waste our time as it did with the petition to the Supreme Court. John Mahama is only looking for a comeback because he is scared of Duffour contesting him.”

Michael noted that the former President’s action today contradicts the conviction he had some years ago about the independence of the EC. According to him, the former President believed that the EC must be allowed to work independently. However, the former President and his party are attacking the EC all over the place.

The opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), to probe the alleged illegal printing of excess presidential ballot papers in the 2020 general elections.

The petition, signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said persons found culpable after the probe should also be prosecuted.

The party said its petition was occasioned by the fact that there had not been any update on investigations on electoral malpractices and violence that characterized the election and voter registration exercise.
