Hon. Akwasi Opong-Fosu has taken a commanding lead in an unofficial Today.com.gh poll gauging support ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairmanship election scheduled for December 2026.
The informal survey, circulated among party members and supporters, shows Opong-Fosu commanding 66 percent of respondents, with 225 votes. His closest rival, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, trailed with 33 percent, or 110 votes.
The remaining candidates in the race registered marginal support in the poll. Goosie Tanoh received 7 votes (2.0 percent), Alhaji Sinari drew 5 votes (1.4 percent), and Sofo Asorka garnered 3 votes (0.8 percent).
The poll, described by organizers as unofficial and not a formal party survey, offers an early signal of grassroots sentiment within the NDC as the party prepares for its national congress in December, where delegates will elect a new chairman.
Opong-Fosu, who also serves as Board Chair of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, has campaigned on themes of party unity and organizational renewal ahead of the vote.
The NDC’s National Chairmanship election is scheduled for December 19, 2026.
