Former Ghanaian athlete, Esther Dankwah, has set up a non-profit organization which envisions a world where every child is free from abuse and allowed to grow to their full potential.

The mission of the Foundation is to transform the culture of violence to children by educating, empowering and supporting structures of assistance to raise their voices and bring about change.

Esther Dankwah survived sexual abuse in her childhood and knows what it means to experience pain, shame, suffering and ultimately survival. That is why she is committed to underprivileged children especially children who have experienced domestic violence, rape and neglect.

The athletic trainer and coach at the Haag Atletiek advised parents to engage their children more often in order to know when they are abused sexually.

“I always tell parents to have conversation with their children. Parents shouldn’t only focus on making money but also have time for their children to detect these things when they do happen”, she told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

The Esther Dankwah Foundation will organize a competition in Sekondi-Takoradi for deaf students. The organization plans to get 50 mattresses for the students.
