krainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected an offer from the United States of America to evacuate Kyiv.

A senior American intelligence official privy to the conversation said Mr Zelensky said “the fight is here” and that he needed anti-tank ammunition but “not a ride.”

Mr Zelensky went into hiding on Friday after he spoke with European Union leaders on a call, telling them that it may be the last time they see him alive. Mr Zelensky had said that Russian saboteurs had entered Kyiv and that his intelligence found “the enemy has identified me as the number one target.“

On Saturday morning, Mr Zelensky released a video of him standing outside in the capital, with the caption: “Don’t believe the fakes.” This is in response to news that he had ordered for a surrender.

A high-rise apartment block in Kyiv was hit by a missile on Saturday morning as fighting continues into its third day in the capital between Russian and Ukrainian forces. At the time of filing this report, the death toll is unknown.

Daily Mail reports that Russia’s Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said the military struck a range of installations with long-range Kalibr cruise missiles.

Mr Konashenkov said that since the start of Russia’s invasion on Thursday, its military has hit 821 Ukrainian military facilities, including 14 air bases and 19 command facilities, and destroyed 24 air defence missile systems, 48 radars, seven warplanes, seven helicopters, nine drones, 87 tanks and eight military vessels. Mr Konashenkov claimed the Russian military has taken full control of the southern city of Melitopol.
