Ex Ghanaian Footballer, Charles Sampson, says his daughter Sharon Sampson is the reason why he pursed a career in coaching.

Charles Sampson made six appearances for the national team during his active days.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Where are They program, he disclosed that his daughter is the reason why he ventured into coaching.

“Actually, football has been everything in our family. I am a father of four children three sons of which Sharon is the only daughter and they always joined me to watch my matches.

“Where it all started for Sharon was whenever the family went to play football, she always wanted to partake in it.

“Her interest really came to light when she was almost seven years old and I was about to hang my boots. So, I started coaching a former club I once featured for which consisted of eight-year-old girls of which Sharon was a part.

“That is how everything started for her”. He told Ohene Bampoe Brenya.

Sharon Sampson, was born in Tamale but raised in Sweden, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder played for Swedish sides Telge United Södertälje FK, Hammarby IF and Assyriska FF.

She is currently studying at Oakland University in Michigan, USA.

Sampson first played for the Princesses two years ago in an international friendly against Morocco, but this time she is relishing the opportunity to represent Ghana at the August 10 to 28 tournament where the Princesses have been pitted against Japan, the Netherlands and USA in Group D.
